He can play Scarlatti with intelligent grace; he can out-stride anyone; he knows bebop inside and out; he is capable of the most endearing lyricism. During the pandemic and continuing on, he has been giving online concerts &#; solo piano up to a sextet &#; at his &#;Flat,&#; and a special one will be happening tomorrow, October 15, At 5 PM, New York time, you can see and hear an hour of the finest jazz on Rossano&#;s YouTube channel and Facebook page. By happy coincidence, I found this performance from September 18, , by Rossano, Dan Block and Scott Robinson, tenor saxophones; Frank Tate, double bass; John Von Ohlen, drums, from the Cleveland Classic Jazz Party (recorded by me) of I GOT IT BAD (And That Ain&#;t Good), tender and searching at once. (The man smiling in the background is the superb drummer Ricky Malichi.)
