Commemorating the First Sermon of Lord Buddha, His Eminence Gyalwa Lorepa will give a teaching on the “Insights of Karma”.
His Eminence Gyalwa Lorepa Jigdral Ugyen Deve Dorji was born on April 10, 1998 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA. He was recognized as the second incarnation of Gyalwa Lorepa by His Holiness the Gyalwang Drukpa.
His Eminence Gyalwa Lorepa is a Drukpa master lineage holder of Lower Drukpa tradition, one of the three sub-branches of Drukpa school. The First Gyalwa Lorepa was one of the two main disciples of the first Gyalwang Drukpa Drogön Tshangpa Gyare Yeshe Dorje. After being recognized, His Eminence studied traditional Buddhist philosophy and language for three years under the guidance of His Holiness the present Gyalwang Drukpa at Druk Sangag Choeling Monastery in Darjeeling. His Eminence then studied at the Dodedra Buddhist Institute in Thimphu, Bhutan and is presently continuing his education at the Tango University of Buddhist Studies.

The journey from Jigme Wangchuk to His Holiness Galwa Lorepa; the journey from Boston, USA to Drukpa Sangag Choeling Monastery in Dali, near Darjeeling town in North Bengal was definitely a trying and testing time for both 11-year-old Jigme, his parents and his sister.

Born in Boston, USA, Jigme Wangchuk was identified as the first reincarnation of HH Galwa Lorepa of the Drukpa Kagyu sect, a reincarnation after more than 700 years. With Jigme Wangchuk coming to Darjeeling even his parents have sold their family business in the USA and come to Darjeeling to stay here and serve him. His sister also will be studying in Darjeeling henceforth.
