Yesterday, we went to the Vaikuntha Samaradhane of Vasundhara Aunty. How beautifully the final ceremony was done by her daughters Sheela and Rekha and son-in-law Ranga (husband of Rekha who has solidly taken on the mantle of son). It was moving to see that not a single ritual was left out on any of the days despite some of the rituals involving a great deal of inconvenience. One could watch the mangalaarti from the first floor. When it came to giving gifts to Brahmins (Vedic scholars), I was delighted to find that 16 of them were honored not just some 5-7 as is typically done. All her life, Vasundhara Aunty gave first preference to visiting teertha sthaanas, honoring traditions and being immersed in the bliss of Narayana. And now even her passing felt like a celebration of the journey towards Narayana.
